Producing Punchy Posters for your New Year’s Eve Party

2017 happy new year

If you are putting on an event for New Year’s Eve, then you will want to tell people about it. A great way to inform the crowd of what’s going on is to advertise at earlier events that attract a similar clientele. One of the oldest and best ways to maximise coverage is simply to put up a poster, but how do you make sure that it gets seen and gets read by the right people?

Here’s our guide to producing punchy posters.

  1. Be Colourful. Use colour to catch the eye of your potential reader. Bold simple colours that stand out from their surroundings are the best.
  2. Use Artwork. A picture can pass on loads of information about the nature of your event in an instant. Most people don’t have to time to read paragraphs of information and they won’t remember it anyway - a picture will stay in the mind.
  3. Be Legible. The key information: the title of your event, the date and the location, should be readable at a glance from a distance. The price and a website address to get further information are also essential but can be less prominently displayed.
  4. Site Sensibly. Put your poster up where it will be seen by the sort of people that you want to come to your event. Hosting a barn dance? Display a poster at a local square dancing class. Rap battle? Display your poster at a hip-hop night. Think about your desired customers and where they are likely to be.
  5. Ask Permission. Fly posting is illegal and akin to littering. Please get permission to display your poster in the relevant places.

Following these simple steps will get your poster noticed by the right people and your Christmas or New Year’s event should be hopping.
