The trifold leaflet is one of the most commonly used formats. Typically created from a single sheet of A4 folded twice folded to create 3 equal panels, it is especially popular with businesses operating in the tourism and entertainment industries.
At Colour Print we can handle all elements of producing your trifold leaflet in-house. In this blog, we answer some of the most common questions asked by our clients:
What Is a Tri-fold Leaflet?
You would be mistaken for assuming that a trifold leaflet is made up of the three folds, but this is not the case. The tri-fold leaflet actually only has two folds, which form three panels on each side and helps to create a mini-booklet.
What Size Is a Tri-fold Leaflet?
The most common size for the tri-fold leaflet is A4 flat size, folded to 1/3 A4. This size is typically referred to as DL size. However, depending on your requirements, we can assist you with creating leaflets that are larger or smaller than this.
What Is the Layout of a Tri-fold Leaflet?
The tri-fold leaflet can be folded in two formats – ‘roll fold’ or ‘z fold’. The roll fold is the most commonly used design and involves folding the ‘flap’ panel under the front cover to close the document. Alternatively, the ‘Z’ fold leaflet folds back upon itself to form a ‘Z’ shape.
Which Paper Should You Choose for A Tri-fold?
Whilst there is no definitive right or wrong answer, we typically advise customers to choose a 130gsm – 150gsm paper. Choose something less than 130gsm and you risk the document being too flimsy. Equally, if you opt for greater than 150gsm, the folds can crack.
