IBM Impresses Us with Inspiring Advert Campaign

At Colour Print we always enjoy inspiring and inventive ideas, so when we discovered IBM's 'Smart Ideas' street-ad campaign we realised that anything was possible in the printing world. Billboards are generally seen as a distraction and something that doesn't tend to fit in with the landscape around them. IBM however, have gone one step further and incorporated their advertising with functional solutions such as a bench, a rain shelter and a ramp over a set of stairs.
If you have a new advertising campaign and want to stand out from the crowd then you need an innovative and creative design that will stick in your customer's minds.
IBM's 'Smart Ideas' Billboard Campaign
These billboards are part of IBM's People for 'Smart Cities Program' which is designed to bring citizens, local councils and smart ideas together, sparking positive change in cities all around the world. IBM's mission statement on their 'People 4 Smarter Cities' website says: "If you're a citizen, you can share smart ideas to improve cities. If you're a city leader, you can gain insights. With the right information at your fingertips, you can make better decisions, resolve problems proactively, and co-ordinate resources more effectively."
The concept was designed by Ogily & Mather France, a globally renowned advertising company who were able to reach IBM's advertising goals; to produce a loud message, an imaginative design and a portrayal of a smarter city. These billboards were installed in London and Paris and received a vast amount of media attention.
