We Did It: The Coastal Walk Challenge

Posted on 26/06/2015
Our group consisted of Ady Durrant (printer), Ralph Hawes (print finisher/despatch), Raymond Halms (works manager), Charlotte Pritty (print finisher), Roger Tubby (sales director) and Ric Martin (director). The 6 team members left Hunstanton on Friday lunchtime and arrived in Cromer 19 hours later. Along the way, in addition to the obvious challenge of tackling 47 gruelling miles, they also had to contend with walking on a variety of surfaces, walking through the night, and temperatures that varied from soaring temperatures to heavy rainfall. The image below was taken about 20 miles into the walk as the team reached Holkham beach. You may recall that six members of the Colour Print team recently took part in the Norwich City Community Sports Foundation (CSF) 'Coastal Walk Challenge' to raise funds for their Sporting Light Appeal. This year's challenge, the fifth of its kind, was taken up by more than 90 walkers who walked the 47 miles from Hunstanton to Cromer Pier. Colour Print on Holkham Beach Bigger and Better "Early indications show that our walkers have raised well over £10,000 for the Foundation, which is simply outstanding. The event gets bigger and better each year, but the physical nature of the Challenge never changes. Our walkers showed fantastic team-spirit, everyone pushing each other on and keeping morale high, even at the rough points." - Emma Fletcher, Community Sports Foundation. Community Orientated Business At Colour Print we are proud of our Norwich roots and where possible like to help community projects and it was great to see members of our team helping to raise funds for such a worthwhile cause. Ric commented on the experience saying: "The whole event had been superbly organised by CSF and proved to be a great team building challenge." Previous Coastal Walk Challenges have raised as much as £27,000, with the money used to help improve the quality of life of local disabled and disadvantaged people through sport. We wanted to congratulate everyone who took part in the Challenge as well as the team at CSF for organising the event. So far it looks like we have raised over £1000 which is great news. Despite the aching limbs and blisters, some of the Colour Print team are already thinking about the next challenge! Colour Print at the finishing line
