Creative Ideas For Brochures

Posted on 02/10/2014
A couple of weeks ago we wrote a blog talking about 5 tips that will help you make a great brochure. Following on from this, our blog for this week is going to showcase some example of creative brochure ideas that a variety of companies have made to advertise their products. These ideas are really quite unique and will certainly stand out and leave an impression on those that read them. IKEA: The flat-pack brochure IKEA, that famous Swedish company that makes flat-pack furniture, has really outdone themselves when it comes to making their brochure. A company that sells furniture in this way needs to promote both these things to fully advertise their business and what they can provide. But how can you advertise the ability for furniture to be flat-packed? The furniture is easy, it sells itself based on its features and how it looks. Advertising flat-packing is difficult but IKEA managed it with their great brochure. IKEA Brochure Image Image courtesy of Behance The brochure is made like an old-fashioned pop-up book, each page that you turn to allows you to see a room full of furniture come to life in 3D despite being delivered to you initially in a flat, book format. This is a genius piece of advertising and a great and interesting brochure idea. Jeep: Clever imagery The motor industry is constantly changing. With every manufacturer constantly making new models, brochures need to be made and updated on a regular basis too. This means that there will be a huge number of different brochures for people to look at, making standing out difficult. Jeep decided to advertise their products by utilising the two most recognisable aspects of their cars – their tires and their use off-road. IKEA Brochure Image Image courtesy of DeviantArt Jeep used the tire as the focal point of their brochure and used a colour scheme that instantly makes one think of the off-road experience. This clever use of imagery will resonate with a customer and tell them instantly what Jeep provides and how they are the best at doing it. Haworth Seating: Simple and effective This is a small company that makes and sells office chairs – not necessarily the most exciting product but something I’m sure most of us use all the time in our day-to-day lives. How do you make these products stand out though? The answer is simply that you don’t. The best way to advertise a product like an office chair that has a specific purpose and audience is to focus on the product, explain what it does and let it sell itself. This brochure made the chair the focus – there is no fancy imagery, no gimmicks, just pictures of their product in their natural environment with information telling a customer why each chair is the one they should buy. Sometimes simplicity is truly the best way to go.
